Partners & Community
The Office of the University System of Georgia and the core partner schools and universities in the four PRISM regions provide funding to meet the cost-share obligations of the MSP program. Part of the University System?s cost-share obligation is designated for the creation of PRISM Satellites in all 15 University System institutions that prepare teachers to add increased emphasis on the MSP feature?teacher quality, quantity, and diversity?as follows:
- To enhance and sustain the number, quality, and diversity of P-12 teachers of science and mathematics.
- To enhance, through partnerships among colleges of education, arts and sciences, and partner schools, the content knowledge of P-12 pre- and in-service teachers of science and mathematics and related pedagogical methods and skills.
- To prepare pre- and in-service P-12 teachers of science and mathematics to teach the content of the science and mathematics portions of the new Georgia Performance Standards to P-12 students, and have the knowledge and skills to teach in a standards-based environment so as to help all P-12 students reach the Georgia Performance Standards (GPS).
- To effectively induct new P-12 teachers of science and mathematics into the practice of teaching.
